Find Your Circle

We all know the saying “You are the sum of the five people closest to you.” My Grandpa Bob always says, “If you run with the rats, you’ll smell like them.” Who you associate with is everything! In Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, he discusses the importance of a Mastermind Group. This is a group of few individuals whose sole focus is on success. Each member brings a unique perspective and specialized skill to the group. In Gary Keller and Jay Papasan’s book, The ONE Thing, they said, “No one succeeds alone, and no one fails alone. Pay attention to the people around you.” The path to success is one that is not traveled alone. Connections are key. As you help others, they will help you become more successful.

If you’re not already part of circle of people who are dedicated to success, you need to join one! Finding my circle has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done thus far. Circles do change though. For the group to grow, sometimes the circle has to get smaller. Groups are not static, they are ever changing. You will outgrow some of the people around you. If someone no longer fills their obligation, they are replaceable. It sounds brutal, but at the end of the day you have to decide what is more important, your success or their feelings. Things like this are some of the toughest parts of business, but it’s essential to reaching your potential and finding your purpose.Finding your purpose and doing what you love is a privilege. You earn that privilege by doing the hard things in life and putting in the work.Even when you find your purpose, you’re not going to love every aspect of it. You have to execute and do the work to succeed!
