Don’t Be Vanilla

Vanilla ice cream is great, but its nobody’s first choice. People settle for vanilla because it is for everyone. Vanilla ice cream is available everywhere and everyone makes it. Be different and don’t be for everyone. If you try and relate to everyone, you’ll end up relating to no one. Be the flavors that are out there. When you find your unique flavor, you’re the only place they can get it! You have to be yourself and people relate with authenticity! Niches are key and you have to be remarkable. Be loved by the few who like you.

Being authentic is actually difficult. We’re wired to adapt. We adapt to others opinions and their perceptions. It’s important to acknowledge other’s thoughts, but just know that you don’t need to change for anyone. Honesty is everything. Don’t filter your personality because you think others won’t like you. If that’s who you are, then that’s who you should be! The real you is always better than any fake version of you. Can you tell when someone isn’t acting like themselves? It’s pretty easy, isn’t it? What makes you think you’d be better at it than others? It’s also easier to be yourself because you don’t have to worry about putting on a mask and keeping up appearances. If you’re you, you simply have to live your life. I made a promise to myself that no matter what happens, I won’t sell out and be someone I’m not.

I used to think nobody really cared about my thoughts or my life. As it turns out, people like me for me, and they place value on my thought and opinions. Although I may think I’m vanilla, other people find my life very interesting. I’m just an average guy, who doesn’t settle for average things. I know I’m naturally different than most, but it wasn’t until recently I discovered the true value of being unique and remarkable!
